Customize Your MSW Degree with Social Work Specializations
Clinical Specialization
Gain comprehensive skills in engagement, assessment, intervention, and evaluation for clinical social work, extending beyond traditional psychotherapy.
In this specialization, you will acquire the knowledge to help clients change behaviors or address emotional issues related to the person-environment interface, including diverse client groups such as child welfare families and individuals in hospice or the criminal justice system.
Management and Policy Specialization (MAP)
Develop leadership skills while obtaining the knowledge necessary to build, evaluate, and advocate for programs that help people on a large scale.
Faculty with extensive experience in public and private organizations teach MAP coursework, which includes electives focused on marketing and fundraising, strategic program planning, nonprofit management, and policies addressing economic, social, environmental, and racial justice.
MAP alumni have found positions in various sectors, such as government, state and federal departments, independent nonprofit agencies, healthcare institutions (including hospitals and clinics), educational settings, and corporations.
Choose Your Format & Optional Certificate
Format
- Part-Time: Advance your education while you work and maintain other commitments. You’ll complete your degree in three years.
- Full-Time: As a full-time student, you’ll complete your education in two years and begin field work right away.
- Advanced Standing (Part-Time): If you have a BSW or BASW from a CSWE-accredited school, you can finish your degree in approximately one year (four semesters.)

- Aging and Health Certificate: Gain specialized knowledge and skills to support older adults and individuals living with acute or chronic health conditions.
- Interpersonal Violence and Trauma Certificate: Specialize your advanced studies on issues of Interpersonal Violence and Trauma to prepare to enter the field upon graduation.
- Latina/o/x Initiatives for Service, Training, and Assessment (LISTA) Certificate: Develop specialized cultural understanding and knowledge to serve Hispanic populations more effectively.
